People no longer search only among Google’s ten blue links. More and more often they ask ChatGPT or Perplexity, or read Google’s AI Overview right above the search results. If AI doesn’t know your business, customers won’t reach your website even if you rank well on Google.

Seven steps to get ready for AI search

  1. Strong technical SEO. AI search relies largely on the same sources that search engines already index well. A fast, error-free, mobile-friendly site is the foundation.
  2. Clear answers to questions. Add short, precise answers to the questions customers actually ask, such as price, timelines and process, to your service pages.
  3. Structured data. Organization, LocalBusiness, Service and FAQ markup helps machines understand who you are and what you offer.
  4. Consistent company information. Your name, address, phone and services must match on your website, your Google Business Profile and in directories.
  5. Allow AI crawlers. Make sure robots.txt doesn’t block important crawlers. You can also add an llms.txt file describing your site’s key content.
  6. Expertise and trust. Show real work: portfolio, client stories, team and contact details. Anonymous sites get cited less.
  7. Mentions in other sources. Articles, interviews and reviews on reputable sites increase the chance that AI will name your business.

How to measure the result

Pick ten questions your customers might ask an AI assistant and check regularly whether your business is mentioned. Google Analytics 4 also shows referral traffic coming from AI services.

We can’t guarantee that ChatGPT will recommend you, but a properly prepared site significantly increases the chance. Read more about our AI search visibility service or order a free audit.
