In short: WooCommerce 11.3 is due in the week of 9 November; the beta was published on 26 October. It brings styling controls for more blocks, savings in the On-Sale Badge and a payment method filter in order analytics. Update on a staging copy first and check your payment and shipping plugins.

On 26 October the WooCommerce team published the WooCommerce 11.3 beta. The final release is planned for the week of 9 November. Here is what changes and how store owners should prepare.

What is new in WooCommerce 11.3?

Earlier in October: 11.2 and 11.2.1

WooCommerce 11.2.0 (7 October) added configurable emails for order withdrawal requests. Cc and Bcc recipients can no longer be added to the password reset, new account and email confirmation emails. The developers warned that PublishPress Future 3.0.0–4.10.3 can cause a fatal error with 11.2, so update that plugin to 4.10.4 or later first. Two days later, 11.2.1 fixed checkout regressions introduced in 11.2.0.

How to prepare for the update

  1. back up and update a staging copy first;
  2. check that payment and shipping plugins (such as Montonio, Omniva, Smartpost) support the new version – see our Montonio setup guide;
  3. place a test order with every payment and shipping method;
  4. on a high-revenue store, wait for the first maintenance release (11.3.1) unless you need a new feature right away;
  5. check your server’s PHP version too – the recent PHP2Shell vulnerability showed that outdated PHP is a bigger risk than a WooCommerce update.

Should you update right away?

The new features are handy but not critical. Install security releases immediately and feature releases on a schedule. If you would rather not track this yourself, WooCommerce store maintenance does it for you: we test every update before it reaches the live store. For custom features, see WooCommerce store development.
