In short: The Montonio plugin for WooCommerce adds bank links, card payments and pay later, plus Omniva, Smartpost and DPD parcel lockers. Set it up in test mode, give products a weight and dimensions, configure shipping zones and rates, and place a test order with every payment and shipping method before launch.

An Estonian online shopper expects three things at checkout: their own bank’s payment link, card payment and a choice of the nearest parcel locker. In WooCommerce you can cover all of them with one partner – Montonio handles both payments and shipping and connects Omniva, Smartpost and DPD parcel lockers. This guide walks through the setup steps, testing and the most common errors we have fixed in client stores.

What does Montonio add to WooCommerce?

1. Preparation

  1. Sign a contract with Montonio and get API keys from the partner system – both sandbox and live keys.
  2. If you use shipping, sign contracts with the carriers or use Montonio’s shipping rates.
  3. Back up the store or, better still, do the setup on a staging copy.

2. Setting up payments

  1. Install the official Montonio plugin for WooCommerce and enter the API keys.
  2. Enable the payment methods you need: bank links, cards, pay later.
  3. Show banks as logos at checkout – it is the clearest option for shoppers.
  4. Check that the plugin supports your checkout page: WooCommerce’s block-based and classic checkouts work differently.

3. Setting up parcel lockers and shipping rates

  1. Create shipping zones in WooCommerce: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and, if needed, the rest of the world.
  2. Add shipping methods to each zone: Omniva, Smartpost and DPD parcel lockers and, if needed, a courier.
  3. Set the rates: a fixed price, free shipping above a cart total, or price by weight.
  4. Give products a weight and dimensions – without them the rate cannot be calculated and the right locker size cannot be chosen.
  5. Check that shoppers can pick a locker via search or a list at checkout and that the choice is saved on the order.

4. Order processing and parcel labels

After an order is placed, the parcel label can be created straight from the WooCommerce order screen and the shopper receives a tracking link by email. With many orders, create labels in bulk. If orders also need to reach accounting, see WooCommerce integration with Merit Aktiva and Directo.

5. Testing before launch

Common errors

Do it yourself or hire a developer?

A simple store can be set up on your own. With several countries, complex shipping rates, an accounting integration, or a live store where sales must not stop, it pays to hire an experienced developer. Frequently asked questions

Does Montonio work with WooCommerce?

Yes. The official Montonio plugin for WooCommerce adds bank links, card payments, pay later and Omniva, Smartpost and DPD parcel lockers.

Can I add Omniva and Smartpost parcel lockers without Montonio?

Yes. Carriers and other developers offer separate plugins. Montonio’s advantage is having payments and several carriers in one place.

Why do products need a weight and dimensions?

They are used to calculate the shipping rate and choose the right locker size. Without them the rate may be wrong or the shipping method may not appear at checkout.

Can the store keep selling during setup?

Yes, if the setup is done on a staging copy or in test mode and the live keys are switched on only after testing.

Does Montonio work for shoppers in Latvia and Lithuania?

Yes. Montonio supports bank links for Baltic banks and shipping to those countries, as long as the shipping zones are set up correctly in WooCommerce.
